What Historai is

Historai generates personalized history podcast episodes using artificial intelligence, with interactive features like questions, quizzes and deep dives. It is operated by an individual, not a company, and is provided as-is while it grows.

AI-generated content

Every episode is written and narrated by AI. We instruct the models to research and to be rigorous about facts, and episodes cite their sources where available - but AI can be wrong, oversimplify, or present debated history as settled. Treat surprising claims as a starting point for your own reading, not a final authority. Historai is for curiosity and entertainment, not academic citation or professional advice.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself and be reachable at the email you signed up with. You're responsible for what you generate; don't use Historai to produce content that's illegal or harassing, don't probe or overload the service, and don't resell access. Accounts that abuse the service or its generation limits can be suspended or removed.

Free allowances and membership

Every new account receives a one-time trial of 10 creation minutes and 1 question; the trial is the one shown when the account is created, and it may change for accounts created later. Unused trial credits do not expire and do not refill monthly. Accounts created under the earlier monthly free offer moved to this trial on October 19, 2026; minutes already used in their account month at that time count toward it. Unused trial minutes are kept when you buy a plan: they are spent before the plan's minutes, which are added on top. Today in History, Community listening and replays remain free after trial credits are used. Canceling a paid plan does not restart the trial. Plus costs US$8.99 per month or US$93.79 per year and includes 100 creation minutes and 10 questions each month. Premium costs US$19.49 per month or US$198.49 per year and includes 240 creation minutes and 25 questions each month, plus multi-part series planning. Series episodes use the included creation minutes. Both paid plans offer optional, separately purchased top-ups. Yearly subscriptions are charged upfront and renew yearly; allowances still refresh monthly. New yearly plans have no bonus series. Existing Plus and Premium subscriptions retain the price and allowances agreed at purchase when new offers are published. Subscriptions purchased under the previous membership offer retain their agreed prices, 120-minute and 10-question allowance, series access and any legacy yearly bonus series (each part once). Membership replaces the free allowance. Unused monthly minutes and questions do not roll over. Any applicable tax is shown before payment.

Episode minutes are charged by the duration you select, not the final audio runtime: a selected 10-minute episode uses 10 minutes even if it plays for 11. Questions use their own credits and never consume episode minutes. Allowances are reserved while generation runs; failed generation returns its reserved credits. Replaying existing episodes and listening to available public episodes do not use either allowance.

Payments, cancellation and refunds

Membership automatically renews monthly or yearly according to the chosen plan until canceled. Stripe processes payments. You can manage billing or cancel future renewals anytime from Membership, with no cancellation fee. Canceling a renewal keeps your membership allowance available until the end of the paid period; your existing library remains available after that. Deleting your account ends its billing and access and removes its library. If billing cleanup cannot be completed, we retain the account and show an error so you can retry or contact us.

For a payment refund, contact historai.mail@gmail.com. We review requests individually. Returning credits for failed generation is separate from refunding a payment. Nothing here limits refund, cancellation or other rights you have under applicable consumer law. Membership payments purchase the stated allowance; they are not donations.

We may grant complimentary membership with 120 creation minutes, 10 questions and series access each month at no charge. It renews on the grant anniversary until revoked and does not create a paid subscription. If revoked, the account returns to its remaining trial balance. Revocation does not refill a trial.

Your content

The topics you request, questions you ask, and episodes generated for you belong to your library. If you publish an episode to the Community or share a link, you're making it visible to others - you can unshare at any time. We may remove shared content that breaks these terms.

Availability & liability

Historai depends on third-party AI providers and a small server; outages, model changes, and imperfect episodes will happen. The service is provided "as is" without warranties, and to the extent the law allows, the operator isn't liable for damages arising from its use. These limitations do not exclude protections or remedies that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Changes & contact

These terms may be updated as the service evolves; the version above identifies this agreement. We will notify you of material changes before they take effect. New account creation and Stripe Checkout collect consent to the current terms; existing accounts are not interrupted by an in-app terms prompt. Questions?
